Sleeper trains are the perfect opportunity to broaden your horizons and travel plans. There are so many places you can go, and the opportunity to choose them all and go everywhere. Staying a full week or less in a sleeper train enable you to easily visit a greater number of cities and even countries, that you normally could in that time frame!

We decided to choose a few of our favourite trips all around the world on different sleeper trains:

    Visiting Scotland (Great Britain) on board of the Belmond Royal Scotsman

With a trip ranging from 2 days to 7 nights, visit all of Great Britain starting in Edinburgh, this trip is carefully crafted to bring a full experience of appreciating the pleasures of Great Britain. Starting with an afternoon tea in the High lands, visit different small authentic villages, with magnificent scenery of hills and woodland, clay pigeon shooting (which is called a true gentleman sport) and walks in the wildlife. By visiting numerous historical landmarks of the country, such as Culloden Battlefield, Strathisla Distillery or Chester Cathedral, you will learn everything you need to know about the culture of both north and south of Great Britain. From Edinburg to the south of England and crossing Wales, you will see a myriad of different sceneries on board of the train, with different stops available to try local cuisines and famous restaurants. After appreciating the calm of the Scottish high lands, visit the ever so busy Cambridge’s pubs and market place, museums, and galleries, until embarking back on the train to head back to Edinburgh again.

    Discovering Italy and Sicily with the Golden Eagle Luxury Train

For a warmer trip, head down to Italy with this high luxury train, where you will be able to visit Italy’s most famous cities, such as Venice, Verona, Bologna, Pompeii, Rome and Florence and many others! This 12-day trip starts in Venice, where you will see one of the most romantic cities in the world, with its iconic gondolas in the basin of St Mark. Moving South you will admire the impressive architecture and history in the scenery around you all the way to Verona, setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. As the train continues its routes south, taste on board or during excursions in famous restaurants, the unique Italian gastronomy known all around the world.     Appreciating exotic India, on the Deccan Odyssey

On this 8 days, 7 nights tour, learn all about the magnificence of Indian cities and sceneries by visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai and many more. The Deccan Odyssey is an elegant sleeper train who will take you to the most popular and beautiful Indian destinations, with carefully made unique cocktails. Enjoy a wildlife safari in one of the most beautiful India national park and tiger reserve, interact with the local villages and travel to the Taj Mahal, a symbol of love of Emperor Shah Jahan to his wife, while eating fresh authentic Indian meals on board. Spend the day shopping or relaxing in spas in Agra, until its time to board back in the train to continue the trip to Jaipur. Jaipur is full of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Hill Forts of Rajasthan and the Amer Fort, and bask in the gorgeous Hindu style elements of its unique architecture. Jaipur is also famous for its lively markets full of beautiful handmade pieces of jewellery and spices. Learn more about Indian culture and history by travelling south through Vadodara and Aurangabad with a myriad of museums and palaces, originally homes of the royal family, and appreciating local delicacies, cuisine, and cultural performances through excursions in the cities until finally reaching Mumbai.

Through this unique 15 days, 14 nights journey, discover all of Africa’s most beautiful sceneries on board of an elegant luxury sleeper train. From Dar Es Salaam, head through the magnificent lands of Tanzania, and see the beauty of the land in the observation cars until reaching Victoria Falls, where you will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities. From helicopter rides over the falls, walking with lions, golf or bungee-jumping, appreciate the wide life of the Selous Game Reserve, the largest reserve in Africa. Then in Makambako, learn all about African cultures while passing through forests of baobabs, while still heading to the highland valley of Mbeya.
